Evan A. Nielsen Named as Alternate on IRS Advocacy Panel
The Internal Revenue Service selected Evan A. Nielsen of Nielsen Law Group as an alternate on the Taxpayer Advocacy Panel (TAP). As defined by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the TAP is a Federal Advisory Committee to the IRS that “helps to identify tax issues of importance to taxpayers and to provide a taxpayer perspective to the IRS on key programs, products, and services. It also serves as a focus group that makes recommendations to the IRS and the National Taxpayer Advocate.”
As an alternate, Nielsen may be called upon to serve if a member resigns or needs to be replaced. Should he become a member, he will be asked to volunteer 200-300 hours per year during the three-year appointment. Nielsen was selected as an alternate from a large pool of applicants through a six-month screening process.
Nielsen commented, “I’m excited for the opportunity to work closely with the IRS on issues impacting taxpayers. Representing the needs of taxpayers has long been important to me and this will allow me to have greater influence on bringing positive change that can truly help individuals in the tax area.”
