IRS eFile Delays

The 2015 Tax filing season has officially started and the IRS is once again struggling to process tax returns. Our processing provider has notified us that the IRS is experiencing significant eFiling issues at present and is currently not accepting eFile returns. With more taxpayers than ever filing electronically this year, this has become an even bigger problem than in the past.

The IRS indicates there is currently no timeframe for the solution but technical personnel are working on it and the system will be up and running once the solution is found. Which, to me sounds like a non-answer.

It still makes sense to get your tax information to your preparer as quickly as possible so the return can be prepared. But expect a longer delay than normal to get that refund deposit or check.
